Training Construction People: An Estimating Guide: Page 2

-

Overview

The new buzz word in the construction industry these days is training. Our industry has finally reached the point where the training of both new and experienced construction people can no longer be avoided. There are several reasons for this:

  • The labor shortage
  • Higher demands for quality, productivity, and timely completion
  • More complex technology is being used in both materials and construction techniques
  • Clients are beginning to consider training programs when selecting contractors
  • Employee turnover rates are soaring
  • Training is cost effective

There are a lot of different kinds of training: supervisory training, journeyman training, specific craft skill training and safety training, just to name a few. While the development and implementation process for each is unique, estimating their costs does have some commonality.
