Comprehensive Training ProgramA comprehensive training program will normally include several separate curriculums and each curriculum includes several classes. The comprehensive program may include one curriculum each for project managers, field superintendents, new or aspiring supervisors, new craft workers, and experienced craft workers. Estimating the cost of such a program is merely an extension of what has been already offered in this paper. The more difficult question comes when management asks to assess the value of a training program by it's affect on the company's bottom line. Deriving the cost benefits to a company for investing in such a program requires quite a bit of analysis of such hard to define items as rework, employee turn over, and poorly installed work. That estimating study is beyond the scope of this paper. |
