Scheduling for Estimators

A Guide to Conceptual Scheduling- Page 8

-

Summary

The scheduling process is even easier if you have prepared previous bid period schedules for similar projects. You can use a previous schedule as a template for future schedules. Some activities will need to be added or deleted, durations will change, and project requirements will be different. If you can use 70% of the information from a previous schedule, the time to prepare the schedule at hand will be greatly reduced.

That’s about it. Doesn’t sound very complicated does it? It really isn’t all that complicated and the advantages obtained from preparing bid period or preliminary network schedules are tremendous.

If you are interested in learning the basic scheduling skills discussed in this paper then contact Construction Experts, Inc. to arrange a Planning and Scheduling seminar for your company.  A full day seminar is all you need to learn the scheduling terms and how to read critical path schedules.  A popular portion of our seminar includes discussion of  acceleration techniques and the relative cost of each technique. Hope to hear from you soon.
