This is a paper on conceptual scheduling techniques that are especially useful to estimators. The paper was published in October 1998 by the Joint Cost Management Societies as a part of their 1998 symposium. Posted November 1, 1998.
CPM Schedule Preparation, a case study
We've posted a case study based upon
scheduling services recently provided for one of our general contractor clients. This case
study documents the general process of providing scheduling services for a project as well
as the cost of the services provided. This is a brief paper that may answer questions
about critical path scheduling for a typical project. Posted 5/31/98
If you find the Eichleay Formula is a little
confusing then you will want to take a look at this guide to performing the calculations.
The Eichleay Formula is widely used to calculate a contractor's losses related to home
office overhead due to delays that cause a project to run longer than originally planned.
This is a very brief paper that gets right to the point! Posted 5/30/98
How to Estimate the Cost of Training
Take a look at the technical paper by Bob George entitled The Cost of Training Construction People. This is a how-to guide for estimating the cost of holding in-house training classes. The paper walks you through the process of estimating both startup and ongoing costs associated with any type of in-house training program.
The paper has been submitted to the American Society of Professional Estimators for inclusion in their Summer Technical Journal. Reprints are available. Just send an email to info@ConstructionGuy.com.
The bottom line: It is less expensive to train your people well than not to train them at all! Posted 5/23/98
